FACTS TO KNOW
Monaco is a constitutional monarchy, ruled by Prince Albert II. A constitutional monarchy is where a monarch acts as the head of state but it’s the prime minister who actually governs the country. A few other countries that have constitutional monarchies are Belgium, Cambodia, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, and the UK.

Each year on January 27th, the country of Monaco celebrates St. Dévote, the paitron saint of principality. In the fourth centry, she was presecuted for her faith. Later, after she died, her body was buried in Monaco. Years after, a group of thieves tried to sell the stolen bones of Dévote but some Monégasques sailors rescued the bones and then set fire to their (the thieves) boats. Nowadays, a member of the royal family commemerates the stolen bones by setting fire to an old boat.
